Idukki Cardamom

Queen of Spices

Idukki Cardamom

Description

Cardamom thrives in tropical evergreen forests, growing best in temperatures ranging from 10°C to 35°C with a well-distributed annual rainfall of 150 to 300 cm. It requires a cool, humid climate with plenty of shade, making it perfectly suited to high-range regions. While cardamom is cultivated in different parts of Kerala, Idukki stands out as the leading region, known for producing some of the finest quality cardamom in India.

Idukki Cardamom is renowned for its intense aroma, bold flavor, and superior quality. Grown in the mist-covered hills and dense forests of Idukki, the crop benefits from rich soil, high elevation, and ideal climatic conditions. The careful cultivation and traditional harvesting methods ensure that each pod retains its natural freshness and strength.

Known for its sweet, spicy flavor and strong fragrance, Idukki cardamom is widely used in cooking, baking, and beverages. It is an essential ingredient in biryanis, desserts, tea, and traditional Ayurvedic preparations. Its high essential oil content enhances both taste and health benefits, including aiding digestion and refreshing the body.

Often called the “Queen of Spices”, Idukki Cardamom is highly valued in both domestic and international markets for its premium quality.

From plantations to kitchens, Idukki Cardamom brings the rich aroma and authentic taste of Kerala’s high ranges — pure, aromatic, and premium.
